This course is designed to introduce the classic and contemporary thinking, methods and findings in major areas of cognitive psychology that include: perception, attention, memory, reasoning etc.. As a psychology student or as a hobbyist, after learning these lectures, you are expected to form your own arguments toward how humans perceive, attend to and remember events; and thus explain these processes from your own philosophical standpoint.
This course is prepared jointly by Professors Jing S. Pan, Jiehui Qian, Yi Mou, Dingguo Gao and Yanping Liu from the Department of Psychology at Sun Yat-sen Univeristy, Guangzhou, China. All of us were trained as cognitive psychologists specializing in different sub-fields. "认知心理学"是心理学本科专业的一门专业必修课。认知心理学广泛地包含了人类对环境中的信息进行加工从而形成有意义的表征这一过程中的各个方面。本课程从认知心理学的历史、核心、基本观点、研究范围、研究方法、基本理论出发，让学生了解人们如何获得、储存、转换、运用以及沟通信息，从而理解人的知觉、注意、记忆、思考、语言、推理等认知活动的过程及其背后的心理机制。
